Prevent concrete corrosion

Principal corrosion and concrete deterioration protection is in the concrete cover over the reinforcement. Therefor material integrity of the concrete cover must be maintained.

Molenaar Betonindustrie has designed it concrete spacers to maintain the material integrity of the concrete cover.
The Bar supports of Molenaar Betonindustrie B.V. are made of Wet cast high-performance concrete.
The concrete spacers of Molenaar Betonindustrie enhance the durability of the reinforced concrete because of the high-performance concrete and developed shapes.

Molenaar developed fixing methods for their concrete Spacers to meet the requirements of accurate and fast positioning of the rebar with the correct concrete cover.

The Spacers of Molenaar Betonindustrie are designed to minimize or eliminate conditions that could compromise the material integrity of the corrosion protective concrete cover over the reinforcement:

- Cementitious spacers encourages bonding to the surrounding concrete.
Non-cementitious and non-bonding bar supports, even if rust free , can provide ingress path for chlorides at the interface with the surrounding concrete.

- Shaped from complete embedment and minimal visual effect on finished surfaces.

- High structural strength and stiffness to support heavy construction loads and ensure proper positioning. Fewer supports may be needed compared to weaker/softer type supports.

- MoClip, MoStek or embedded tie wires ensure secure and proper positioning.

- Low absorption and permeability to air and chlorides.

- Low diffusion coefficients reduces diffusion of chloride ions through the concrete to the rebar.

- Longer resistant to chemical attacks than substitutes.

- High electric resistivity reduces corrosion rates.

- Thermal expansion compatibility with the surrounding concrete of the structure. Non-cementitious and non-bonding spacers with higher
thermal expansion / contraction can cause separation with a slight gap that provides an ingress path for chlorides at the interface with the concrete.

Molenaar Betonindustrie has the ability to supply the concrete spacers in different types of concrete. The mostly used types can be found under the following link:
